La aparición de la instrumentación mecánica para el tratamiento de los conductos en dentición permanente a finales de los años 80, ha sido útil para que a mediados de los 90 se iniciara la investigación sobre su uso en dentición temporal para la realización de pulpectomías. La técnica rotatoria ha sido un gran avance en endodoncia, agilizando el tratamiento con la utilización de un menor número de instrumentos. Se han desarrollado varios sistemas desde sus inicios: GT, Profile, Protaper, K3, etc. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido realizar una revisión bibliográfica para conocer las diferentes técnicas existentes, así como las peculiaridades de la instrumentación mecánica en la dentición temporal.

The appearance of the mechanical instrumentation for root canal treatment in permanent teeth at the end of years 80’, has been useful so that in the middle of the 90’ the investigation began on its use in primary teeth for the accomplishment of pulpectomies. The rotatory technique has been a great advance in endodontics, making agile the treatment with the use of a smaller number of instruments. Several systems have been developed from their beginnings: GT, Profile, Protaper, K3, etc. The objective of this study has been to make a bibliographical revision to know the different techniques, as well as the peculiarities of the mechanical instrumentation of canals in the temporary teeth.
