Este artículo tiene por objetivo describir un caso clínico de rehabilitación con una prótesis removible completa del tipo sobredentadura, apoyada sobre un sólo diente remanente, en un niño que necesitó extracciones dentarias tempranas de los dientes temporales superiores, como consecuencia de una meningitis bacteriana causada por una infección odontogénica. Este tipo de restauración protética parece ser una buena opción terapéutica no sólo porque permite restaurar la masticación, la estética y la fonación, sino porque también se crean las condiciones para que el niño pueda tener una dieta adecuada, mejorando su calidad de vida y su desarrollo físico, social y psicológico.

The aim of this study is to report a case of oral rehabilitation with removable overdenture total prosthesis, over only one remaining tooth, in a child with premature tooth loss of his upper primary teeth, as a consequence of bacterial meningitis caused by dental infection. This type of prosthetic restoration seems to be a good treatment option not only because it restores masticatory, aesthetics and phonetics functions but also because it creates conditions for an adequate and satisfactory dietary for the child, improving his quality of life and physical, social, and psychological development.
